We are native English speakers living in mainland China and dedicated to the translation of Chinese literary fiction into English. Every one of us has learned Chinese by living on its streets and among its people, puzzling through its texts, using it to survive.
This site is meant as an introduction to our translations, and as a (necessarily incomplete) repository of information about Chinese literature. By looking at our individual sections you can learn who we are and what we're translating. If you happen to be some sort of publisher in search of translators well that's excellent. If you're just curious about Chinese literature, you're equally welcome to browse. Translations on this site are posted with the consent of the authors, where possible, and are copyright the translator – please contact us if you'd like to know more. Look at our individual pages for contact info, or general inquiries can be directed to paperrepublic (at) gmail.com. Photographs are either taken by us, or provided by the authors.
